We interview SEO it Right MD Adam Berry to review SEO in 2013 and ask what his predictions are for 2014 with regards to SEO and online marketing.

What do you think was the biggest change in SEO in 2013?

"Hummingbird is an obvious choice since it was the biggest change in Google’s algorithm since the beginning.  We haven’t really seen an impact from Hummingbird yet but it has undoubtedly set the stage for the future of mobile search and complex, long tailed and question-like search queries."

What shocked you the most in 2013?

"Nothing really shocks me any longer where Google is concerned!  That said the removal of keyword data from Google Analytics was probably the biggest shock.  In another hypocritical, self-protecting move from Google, the only way keyword data is now available is via paid search and it is no longer possible to report on or analyse the useful long-tail queries people are using to find your site organically.

Google’s continued strive towards an anti-SEO world was further evidenced in 2013 with the removal of keyword data and Panda and Penguin updates helping them to protect their adwords revenue
